Investigations

The Office of An Coimisinéir Teanga began investigations in 2007. Summaries of  the  investigations from 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 are available here.

An investigation may be initiated if a provision of any of the following is considered to have been or is being contravened:

• Official Languages Act 2003,
• Regulations in force under that Act,
• Language scheme confirmed under that Act, or
• Any other enactments relating to the status or use of Irish.
